The Speakeasy Group has announced the opening of their first Sydney CBD venue, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, an opulent bar dedicated to cocktails and champagne.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is located at the former site of Christopher Hanna bar which is accessed through Bridge Lane at the rear of the luxe hairdressing salon.
The name of the bar refers to the style of books writer Ian Fleming wrote in the James Bond novel. The late night venue is premised to serve “killer cocktails”, Champagne and live music in opulent surrounds with gold-lit booths, velvet furnishings, elegant chandeliers and sparkling mirrors.
The cocktail list is created by Assistant Venue Manager Alissa Gabriel (ex Mjølner Sydney Bar Manager) and features well-loved classics with twists along with a dedicated section of sip-sized cocktail flights paired to bite sized snacks.
The cocktail list opens with the Cheeky Threesomes, a selection of three half-sized cocktails paired with three bites, available as an Aperitif or Digestif. Think Cosmo Sgroppino with Ccranberry, lime sorbet and bubbles with beetroot, lavosh, cashew cheese, apple, pistachio & sage dukkha; or a Fir Royale for a digestif, with Braulio Amaro, fir liqueur, bubbles paired with mushroom, baby oyster, black fungi and fourmet d’ambert, crispy enoki.
The Fizzy drinks section features cocktails with a sparkling element such as the Mindfuck Mimosa with clarified orange Juice and bubbles, described as “an elegant take on this old disco classic”. Guests can make their selection of the drinks and pair it with champagnes ranging from Mumm Grand Cordon to Ruinart Blanc de Blancs.
The Killer Cocktails list is tongue in cheek, sexy and classy. Bangerang, a Martini style drink brings a sensual element as you sip through the fine foam. Kiss & Tell asks you if tequila steals your clothes and reveals your secrets and delivers a beautifully balanced mix of blanco tequila with coconut, jasmine and grapefruit. You may choose the Peppermint Slap, a bourbon based drink with butter menthol, Fernet Branca, or mint, or finish with the Bang Bang Blazer with Scotch whisky, Cognac, apricot, chai tea and Amaro Montenegro.
A dedicated NO & LOW ABV section caters for those on a “health kick, up the duff or designated drivers” with lighter style cocktails, some with zero alcohol.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is devoted to supporting live music by offering a selection of local DJ’s, vocalists and instrumentals on a regular basis. They ask guests that join them during the live music evenings to make an optional $5 per person Live Music Contribution. So bring your friends and indulge in Moresomes, a selection of group serves such as Versailles with gin, absinthe, mint, pear, almond and apple served in an absinthe fountain.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang opened on Wednesday 19th February.
